Remember Tao almost failed his grad school exam, and has repeatedly written how he was able to excel as a child prodigy only because he had advanced tutors like Paul Halmos but when he got to university, he could no longer just coast like he used to and had to actually apply himself in order to learn the material.
Of course that said he's still Terrence Tao and has an encyclopedia tier knowledge of various math fields that would take us layman decades to learn, but is he superior to us? Not really, just he started earlier and had more control over his discipline and desires than the rest of us who fucked off in early life and accomplished nothing
