I hate labfagging. I love synthesis and theory and running reactions. But I hate columns with every fiber of my being. It's so sluggish and antiquated. I wanna get a PhD but for Organic Chem it's lab slave hell. What's a good compromise?

All my chem professors are Karens too that make lab miserable, shame us for now understanding/going too slow, fascist about their authority, etc. etc

Hell, columns aren't even that bad, it's just the fractions+tlc arrays that make them hellish. I can load and run a column in like 15-20 min

in the organic research lab next to mine they have automated columns. but the Mchem students cannot use them (phd say they must suffer like they did to understand how cool an automated column is)
