My theory on intergalactic and interstellar travel.
> It is an informed opinion, I am 100% sure that it will be like this.

Summary:
1. We will never travel, it will be all with data and we will clone humanity.

2. The interesting thing is going to be diplomacy between "other"-manities.
TL;DR

The first and almost all (or all) manned trips beyond the solar system will be like this:

1. always where there is intelligent life.
2. they will not be physically carried out, only information will be sent and received.
The only thing that is going to be sent is genetic code, how to turn that into a living being and how to keep it alive. The latter is almost redundant.
3. "memes" will surely be sent, but censorship is going to be a problem in general. Cryptomemes?
4. The farther the physical journey is less likely and necessary, the greater objective of the trips will be to create a supporting humanity, if one disappears, not everything disappears.
5. Exactly the same for others, they will try to copy their own world on other planets with intelligent life.

We will never get to the point of physical travel with routine ships over interstellar distances, it is unnecessary.

Only interlanetary trips will be made and even then they will be rare, in the style of travel to current orbit or something more frequent.
Why to points with intelligent life?

For the same reason that we do not look at every grain of sand: what is interesting is life and its "solutions".

The human being is gregarious. I am sure that any intelligent life will be gregarious, there is no point in going to uninhabited places without being forced.

In the past almost nobody went to uninhabited areas voluntarily, only to already inhabited areas "to disturb".
