No one "invented" math.
In fact, "invention" as a concept altogether doesn't even exist. It's a handy word in general conversation but it doesn't actually correspond to anything in reality. Everything is discovered.

From what I've heard he was a con artist too. I think he used a solar eclipse he had calculated with stolen data from the babylonians to gain some kings favor (and I also think this was the first time in history that an eclipse was predicted). Technically he didn't steal the data, he traveled to babylon and found them so he proceeded to use them without citation for his own purpose, which today would be considered stealing. Also I think that after he proved the theorem which bears his name he went to egypt and put a bet with the people there on wether he could measure the hight of the pyramids. The egyptians thought it was impossible, but he used the shadows of the pyramids and some trees and of course his theorem to actually do it.

Everyone in this thread is fucking retarded. Math is neither discovered or invented. It's remembered (or rediscovered). When your soul was put into your body it forgot everything that it already knew and now through your experiences you begin to remember. The whole point of teaching is to help you remember and when you do math on your own you are trying to remember the knowledge you once knew.
