I have an eidetic memory when it comes to sounds. This means that I can remember sounds from my childhood as if they were being played from an mp3 player. One of these sounds was the Windows 95 boot theme. I used to play on my dad's computer when I was a kid and always liked that sound (I'd play flight simulator and AoE).
Anyway, I played the sound again a couple of years ago, and it didn't sound quite right. Like the pitch had changed slightly. Now, you're probably going to say it's just my age and my memory isn't that good. Well, that may be true, but if you take my word for it and let's assume I have perfect auditory memory, could the difference in pitch between what I remember and what I play now could be attributed to the fact that children hear sounds differently compared to adults because children have relatively smaller ear canals? Thoughts? Could my memory of sounds from my childhood provide evidence in support of this theory?
