Hi I have a science question. Im doing a project on electromagnetic waves and I wanted to better understand how exactly it looks like. On graphs showcasing the electromagnetic spectrum its always just a 2d wave which is obviously not what it looks like. I want to know what it would look like in 3d and what exactly does frequency and wavelength represent. So far when I look it up I see either just 2 waves ( electric and magnetic) kinda moving in different dimensions or kinda like a toroid shaped beam. Which one is it?

When you want to measure something, you do it with some kind of sensor. The output from the sensor is one-dimensional (just one value - current state), but you take multiple values throughout the time and plot it to the graph.

I don't know what you mean by toroid shaped beam, but 3D graphs are just simulation. You take measurements at multiple locations at the same time and approximate.

Lets say you initiate a wave at index 3: this means that your inductive step led to this base case( or in other words your initial state):
0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0

now, if we think about the wave propogating youwould see at time t=1:

,0, 1, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 ,0,
t=2:
,1, 0, 0, 0 ,1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0,
t=3
,0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0,
etc...
notice some important features:
The semicolon at the beginning and the end of the list is not a coincidence, as they indicate that the wave continues to infinity ( we just are no measuring thar far).
Another. So in a 1D scaler field like this list, you get motion in all possible directions(alternatively called partial dimensions)

In 2D scalar field, you would imagine the inductive step at some point in space, and at t=1 there would be an infinitely small circle around the point, t=2 the circle expands infitesimaly to infinity.
In 3D, you would again imagine a point at some x,y,z coordinate, and then at t= an infitesimaly small sphere which expands to infinity.

Now, it is important to say that we do not know whether it is actually whatis happening, because waves may many dimensions or even fractions of dimensions.
