>>11617589I really liked it too. Unless you've got your own lab setup, there really isn't much you can do in the way of "recreational" organic chemistry beyond reading stuff about it. Closest thing I've thought of is ordering some esters and using them as flavorings, but it's very hard to find them in small enough quantities to use for flavoring a bit of soda or something, they always come in multi-liter bottles. There are some good Youtube chemists too, like NileRed and Nurdrage who make videos about various interesting organic syntheses which scratch that itch.
It's amazing what you can do with just carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Throw nitrogen, sulfur and maybe some halogens in there and you've got infinite possibilities!
