On a more serious note, it would be nice, but then there'd be no money left to fund the actual research itself which often costs an actual shitload of money. For the price of CERN and the LHC you could buy yourself a few aircraft carriers. For the price of EDELWEISS experiments one mile below a mountain you could buy yourself a very nice super yacht. For the price of the ISS you could buy yourself an army. It also wouldn't change the mentality of scientists. They don't do it for fame or money or notoriety, it's because they love what they and more importantly this driving curiosity.
It would just be a waste of money. As is football.
