- compute the md5/sha1/sha256 cryptographic checksums of the document you want to publish
- make those hashes public through twitter, facebook, etc.
- send document to publishers
if anyone dares copy it, you can then publish your original document and point them to the posts where the original hashes are. they on themselves are proof that you created the original doc.
