Why do people still major in subjects like Physics, Mathematics etc? Tenure is gone, academia is literally slavery, and you're not nearly as employable as many other degrees which are easier and offer more free time. Why not just choose something related, but employable, and study your specific subject on the side? It will make you more rounded anyway.
