A good professor will always make an exam a little too long than the time alloted if you use convention monkey methods, so you end up not finishing or rushing and making mistakes. Usually there's some clever trick to solve a problem faster. That's the real test. Any idiot can plug and chug some cookie cutter problem. What separates the men from the boys is problem solving ability.
