Rate of change at a given moment should sum it up.
Think of a car - not the the speed it is currently moving at, but its acceleration; by how much is the speed increasing or decreasing

Have you tried graphing derivatives and integrals of functions? That's what graphs are for. I was such a boomer that I used to graph things by hand even though I had a laptop.
