Basically implies that most of the brain's computational ability lies in the degree of non linearity and probably the precision to access specific kinds of info at a given time, and not of the number of raw dumb operations. This is something people have assumed for decades, but I think the point here might just be that this phenomenon might be more extreme than what was previously thought.

How? There would have to be consequences to missing most of your brain, like how colorblind people don't realize they can't see certain colors until someone else tells them. People die when they are shot in the brain, so how does this happen?

This is the actual image from Lewin (1980). Note that the caption does not identify the subject.

The OP image is from the Oliveira (2012), which was retracted due to having improper citations for the scans, and depicts three different people. Leftmost is a normal brain, middle is a man with an IQ of 75, and right is a profoundly disabled man.

Here is an article about the middle one from OP’s picture. Even if 75 IQ is not much it’s still incredible he is able to live a normal life with such brain condition.

Same thing is found in rats as well and it doesn't cause any issues. Some people are born with only one hemisphere and never realize it.
