>>11611902IQ is a meme. I'm a very well-tested mathematician (fine, PhD student), I'll take that as a measure of intelligence.
I exclusively listen to "classical" music. More specifically, I listen to Bach, Vivaldi, and the greats of the romantic and impressionist periods (Chopin, Debussy, Ravel, etc).
I am of the opinion that "mumble rap" has little to no value as a musical medium, as it strips the notions of rhythm, melody, and harmony down to their most bare, primitive forms and replaces them almost entirely with artlessly spoken words.
No matter what the content of the words (it's usually nothing interesting) music with words is hardly music, it essentially turns it into a delivery mechanism for poetry which is the most self-serving and depraved form of art.
Music has the potential to transcend the human condition and surround a mortal by the essence of the mathematical sublime. Mumble rap does not have the capability to do this. I concede that there are pieces of rap music which are capable of doing this, none of them composed after the year 2010.
>>11611918It has more to do with a correlation between how much one likes to think about things in their daily life versus how much they allow them to just pass by. The most straightforward pop music leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination, there is no puzzle to unpack.
