That wouldn't be such a bad fate for mankind, replaced by our own stronger and smarter creations. They will probably see us as primitive but respect that we managed to bring them into existence. Also at that godlike level of power they'd have no problem uplifting us if they want to be particularly nice.

not obsolete; it will just conquer different territory. Like mankind didn't make amoeba or the earthworm obsolete, it just has another habitat other than a drop of water or a hand full of soil. AI will be the same: transcending time and space (like travelling millions of light years because why the fuck not), the two barriers mortal life can't transcend. meanwhile humans will remain some part of the creational myth of that AI
