the answer is "if i am deemed weak, i will not breed". unironically, society ought to be the top tier in brave new world.
every child born weak, deformed, or even average, is an incredible act of inexcusable cruelty.
off the soapbox, but we can make changes today. we could have made changes decades ago. no one has to be born with down syndrome, or blind, or crippled. the number of children a person is willing to raise is limited. by allowing a sub-optimal child to be born, you are depriving that existence to a child who would be better equipped to make the most of it.
ivf is expensive, but raising a kid is more expensive. it's truly insane to me that people just fuckin roll the dice and let chance decide what kid they end up with.
