Calling them "poison" is scaremongering. Even if they have side effects, and they can, it's not plausible that hundreds of millions of people worldwide are being poisoned and nobody knows, unless you're a schizo.
If you were prescribed one but "maybe don't wanna take it idk", you're not depressed enough to need it. It's not going to work, find something else.
You take an SSRI when your mental state sucks so badly that you need the drug to "change you" or you're gonna kill yourself. If you're not willing to take a minor risk to maybe get better, you're not that badly off.
