Please, I am getting more concerned every day and I'm trying to not get overwhelmed by this pandemic, so please forgive my ignorance on this subject.

I am looking for the best way to secure my safety. The N95 masks are suppose to be used only for a short time, they are not reusable. And since everyone is trying to get a supply not in surplus, I don't want to rely on them if I can, so I am looking into DIY solutions. I'm looking for a sturdy, long lasting means to prevent infection. The picture attached is my crude attempt at an idea I had. Simply asked, can a given area of air be disinfected with UV light after X amount of time? And if so, can a stream of continuous air be disinfected in the same amount of time it takes to take a breath of air with enough UV light? I know UV on the body is a good way to catch skin cancer and other nasties, but can this work at all? Or, is the amount of time needed to kill microbes too long to become a portable means of filtration?

I am prepared to ditch this idea if it proves to be ill advised or impracticable. I'm already looking into DIY respirators with detachable filters. The idea of separating myself from the air around me is appealing though, so short of a rebreather or full body suit, this looks like a good compromise, though again, I stress, I'm ignorant as to the science. That's why I came here to you to get feedback.
