hi /sci/ I am doing a trial quiz and I am wondering about what might be the answer to this.

If you have a pill which contains a substance which destroys all DNA, and can pass through all cell walls and all cellular membranes- except the nuclear membrane. Would this be good to take as an antibiotic if you have a serious bacterial infection? Explain why or why not.

besides, there's already a great under-used antibiotic called teixobactin. it inhibits cell wall proteoglycan synthesis at a very early fundamental stage, and when you try to design selection procedures to generate resistance, no resistance appears to be generated. more trials and independent research needed but it's promising.

it's notable that nearly all antibiotics and synthetic derivatives work on inhibiting cell wall synthesis. because, you know, that's a target unique to bacteria and not every single fucking living (or viral) organism ever. maybe if you were't a ridiculously tiny brainlet you would understand why nobody develops DNA-targeting drugs. even anti-cancer drugs don't typically directly target DNA, but rather inhibit cell cycle progression. because, you know, researchers aren't braindead?

in short, trump recommends you inject disinfectant and spend lots of time in tanning beds. I think you should take him up on his suggestion. Try to make your own tanning bed that produces lots and lots of UVC. UVC is the best for you. It goes UVA (weak as fuck bro) < UVB (getting there!) < UVC (chad masterrace)
