They put you in an fMRI
They ask you to press either a left or right button whenever you want
They show you pictures, and ask you to remember which picture you saw when you decided to press the button
Based on your brain activity, the button you choose (left or right) and the time you became aware of your decision; we can see 10 seconds before you are aware of the decision, your brain has activity that indicates you will press the button.
If there is some meme "meta-being", then either we are not the being, thus no free will, or we are that being, in which case we should be aware of our decision before the brain scan shows it
It appears the subconscious makes the decision, then passes the information to the conscious part of the brain, then the button is pressed. It's as if the conscious part "thinks" it made the decision "freely"
