I used to work with both a few years ago. From memory I think the dichromate was more yellow in solution and when you put stuff out of it, the solution dripping off is very yellow?

Fast forward to now In lockdown and one of the kids here has a crystal growing kit and I was looking at the powder and thinking it looks oddly like potassium dichromate.

Is there an easy test you can do at home to identify if it’s one or the other?

Thinking about just chucking the red part of the kit out before it’s used.

There’s vinegar/acetic acid, sodium bicarbonate, some alcohol, salt (nacl and the potassium mixed kind), probably other stuff
