The NUMBER 70 (not the base) is called "weird" because it satisfies two simple number-theoretic properties. Something about (non?-)abundance and another property, I forget the definition but you can easily look it up and check it for yourself. The electronic music group Boards of Canada released a track called "the smallest Weird Number", a reference to the name of their music label imprint, Music70.
