They could see WHAT from a fucking satellite? I read elsewhere that satellite imagery was meant to have a resolution of 30cm at best

I'm not exactly surprised.
The stopped publishing their resolution at 10 cm back in the late 1970s IIRC.
That's when they still used film instead of digital sensors and proposed an orbital laboratory.
Since then we got:
>active optics correcting for air currents
>higher precision mirror grinding
>FAR better stabilisation
>higher resolution in lines per mm sensors
These things are probably diffraction limited only, but I'm not exactly sure if they found a way of working around that by now...

Keep in mind that Hubble is basicly a modified Keyhole 11 spy satellite from the 1980s

Probably the kind that is transferred into the rocket through heavy duty pipes that aren't at risk from cigarettes. Does sound a bit lax but it's not that hard to believe.

Well I mean, there could be a leak. However depending on the nature of the propellant, a lite cigarette could be the least of their concerns in the event of a leak.

That is for private industry in the U.S. and it is stipulated by the American military. It was previously larger than that but was lowered because European satellites were offering much better service. So, I have no doubt that the military has much, much finer images.

Since it's a 16 wheeled vehicle transporting and launching the rocket, I would assume long therm stable hypergolics or solid fuel.
That's since they usualy only transport/launch ICBMs on these things and ICBMs need to be ready all the time.
Only solid fuels and long therm stable hypergolics allow that, so no LOX/LH2/LNG or other highly flammable stuff anywhere near the rocket, only inside of it.
And if the hypergolics would leak, you wouldn't even need to ignite them.

That's my suspicion as well. I'd never smoke around a rocket filled with LOX, nor particularly one also filled with liquid hydrogen, but that's almost certainly what the norks are working with.

Of course the media has no interest in nuance, and so is more than willing to let the public assume that north koreans are retards who are going to blow themselves up when smoking. The irony, that the north koreans understand the danger of their own rockets better than the average consumer of western media does, is completely lost.

YOU wouldn't, but the glorious leader is one of a handful of people in history who actually can approach a military LOX rocket with a lit ciggie and not be punished by anyone for it.
