Why do space suits have a rectangular tank for oxygen?

Why isn't it round like in a diving suit?

Easier to pack away in an area where space is at a premium. It's also keeping the suit at a positive pressure, not just pushing air into a respirator.
There's a lot more shit in those packs than just oxygen tanks because it needs to be an entire life support system.

It's a special type of rectangle that stays aerodynamic. A diving suit tank couldn't hold as much air. I've heard that aerodynamics is especially important on windy planets such as the moon.

It always amazes me to think how mant new technologies are severely lagging behind due to our battery tech stuck in the 19th century.

the oxygen tanks are exactly like a diving suit, it's all the rest of the gear in there that make it rectangular
