Wouldn't the virus want to mutate into a less lethal form so it can survive and spread from host to host?

More lethal forms wouldn't last and would die out quickly, but virus are kinda fucky so who knows.

Here's a secret: Beneficial mutations are rare, often mutations are either benign or deleterious to function. Evolution isn't a process of "refinement", evolution is simply cumulative mutation, regardless of whether that mutation is harmful or not. The only point at which harmful mutation isn't pass on, is when the mutation results in the expression of a phenotype that isn't viable (think birth defects).
This board is pure trash nowadays.

this is really where the issue lies. while a vaccine can be effective over a number of strains as the number of virulent strains increases we will need more and more vaccines to be effective over the whole set of sars-cov2 strains. ofc there is danger that some strains can become more pathogenic too. but such gain of function in un-controlled circumstances is rarer than mutations that have little to no effect.

lol, my work in ml is a lot closer to figuring bcis out than that and i'm not even directly involved in bcis. dude all you need to do is keep track of and induce action potentials. so you need some tiny af electrodes, a classifier to know what is going on and a controller on how to respond. but gl to you, should've majored in ee and cs.

You are greatly underestimating the complexity of a non-standardized collection of 100 billion nodes with a gargantuan number of possible and constantly changing and adapting combinations. The nearest thing you have to standardization in the human brain is brain regions with vague collections of apparent functions. At least when trying to perform attacks on cryptographic functions you have standardization between the standards used, the brain is an entirely different beast.
