So all plants need sunlight, right? WRONG!

This is the Monotropastrum humile and it gets all of its sugars and other nutrients from fungi. It doesn't even have leaves so it can't produce chlorophyll, thus lacking color

Is it essentially a parasitic plant?

Does it prove any symbiotic benefit to the fungi it feeds on?

If it does not conduct photosynthesis, it also does not recycle CO2, correct?

Correct. But not all are parasites, just this species

Is it genetic similarity? What distinguishes it from the fungi kingdom?

Look at the picture, it's got a nice big flower on top. Not an optical illusion either, it's got a stamen etc. in there.

It forms the analog of roots in many ways, in terms of function. Just as the fruiting body is the 'flower'. Analogs are analogs.

I was aware that Fungi breathe Oxygen, as animals do, but was not aware how it occurred until I just looked it up. Straight through their outer membrane.

Well, your torso is called your trunk, and your limbs ARE branches. However the overlap in actual function is practically nonexistant in those lists. While mycelium networks do in fact extract nutrients to provide to the fruiting body as well as providing stability.

There is also dodder, Cuscuta, that are parasites of other plants
