Stupid Question

I hate to be a schizo /sci/. But I have a stupid question thats probably been asked for 100,000 years. I cant necessarily find literature on it that doesnt reference reincarnation, so I come to you guys.

Assuming that emergence as an explanation for our consciousness is correct, would it be correct to assume that once we die we would re-emerge in another being. Is this farfetched, would the mechanism (ie. when exactly would our current consciousness cease to exist, allowing us to re-emerge) be too complicated to describe, probably making it unreasonable.

Sorry for sounding like a schizo, I just keep getting literature on reincarnation, I dont believe in a soul, I dont believe that we pass traits on to a new life. I don't even really believe in """re-emergence""". Just curious what you guys thought.
