>>11587682what do you mean by that? the math department here is very communal if you get into the right group. if you sit on your own and don't talk to anyone, of course you won't feel very supported. but if you join in with one of the (very very open and welcoming) organizations for math students, you'll find tons of people who want to help you and talk with you about stuff, pretty close access to the department's staff and faculty, etc.
the math department here has been extremely helpful to me, so many people are incredibly nice and generous. i just needed to find them (which is easier than it sounds).
