Is the Singularity near?

Kurzweil is the guy who popularized this, however his predictions for the past few years have been completely off. We are not anywhere near what he said we'd be at. For reference he claimed that for the year 2010 to 2020 we'd have:
>the ability to modify the genes of adult people, reverse aging in adults and genetically have eternal youth
>by the end of 2020, a computer as powerful as the human brain would cost ~1000 dollars
>language translation apps that have perfect 1 to 1 translation between any langyage
>we would have solved world hunger, literally no one is hungry anymore
>cell phones would be built into clothes, clothes have computers in them
>toilets can real your urine and tell you what diseases you're at risk for
>many others
Literally none of this is true, at all. So what's the deal? Is the singularity actually going to happen or are we hitting the end in terms of computational power and thus artificial intelligence advancement?
