How hard is this shit??
I got into the best Uni in my country (QSR #103) but to keep it real It wasn't hard at all to get in and I feel that I have the brains to go to some big-name colleges in the US.
The problem is that I have no idea how does the SAT works; If someone were to apply 1 year to study, would that be enough to get the equivalent of 9/10?
I'll put what was on the test in the replies.

SAT isn't a university entrance examination in the way most countries conduct entrance exams. The SAT is simply one part of many aspects that are reviewed by American Universities. Your HS GPA is equally important as well as your extra-curriculars. Did you join your HS basketball team? Were you in band? Were you president of a club? How many hours of community service did you perform? Did you compete in any math competitions? All of these activities are considered as well.

Also, I imagine that compared to your countries college entrance exams the SAT should be pretty easy.

I also didnt know how it works. I increased my score by 200 points without studying and never retook it. You should have accomplished enough outside the SAT to be competitive.

It's a little tough if you aren't prepared for it, but honestly it's not that bad. Just do a bunch of practice tests, go over and redo the questions you got wrong, and you'll be fine. You should also consider taking the ACT; many students find it easier and it's equivalent to the SAT in college admissions.

I mostly studied using College Board's bluebook back when I took it and got the equivalent of a 1540. What fucked me over the most was not grinding enough vocabulary words and got a bunch of those fill in the blank questions wrong.

Frog here. Maths shouldn't be a problem, but the rest took some time to master as an ESL. I practiced during my summer vacation prior to my last year at school.

Also, consider that some unis don't require SAT for transfers (UChicago and UCB being some of them IIRC)

I did both A levels & SATs in my teens. A levels were considerably more difficult. SAT was a breeze (in comparison to AS)

We didn't have Extracurricular things in high school, like at all. The only event was done by the same school and it was some sports tournament.
I know another language (Spanish) so maybe that would help me out, My equivalent GPA would be like 3.5 or so.
My main problem would be things that I have to remember like history or getting better at comprehending English written math problems like these ones.
