Imagine universal basic income became real. You now get 35k a year for being a citizen to spend as you please. Do you continue studying what you're currently studying? How does this change your perspective?

Less than you think. The bottom rung of society doesn't do anything productive anyway and they'd still be motivated to climb the social ladder and get better cars/homes/vacations etc.

I make a lot of money as a pilot with almost 50% of the year off. If I was given 35k a year I would literally quit my job, move to some cheap as fuck shitty state, buy all my ski gear and just ski all year and smoke weed. I would literally completely check out of society.

Was always taught and always believed if I just work harder I'll get that promotion and raise. Been fired twice now despite the free overtime I gave em (for what I thought was improving efficiency but the boss took it as telling him how to do his job I guess. Literally 50% of my job is defining processes and improving efficiency). Kinda checking out of the system rn.
