It was Satan's insight to see that the ancestors of the Messiah could get away with any manner of evil, and the Lord would be forced to abide it because he could not destroy the Messiah's ancestors. They are needed to transmit the genes and the culture as well, which my parents seem to have handed me as a front for the their serial killing alter egos. None of those other ones here today are my ancestors except one or maybe two.
As a descendant of Abraham, I can make good on my promise to Abraham if my own descendants become more numerous than the stars. My own descendants are Abraham's. As a descendant of David, one from David's line will always be king if one from my own line is always king. As a descendant of Jacob, a/k/a Israel, the remnant of Jacob will go on, despite his crimes, if I go on.
