I case anyone is interested the actual answer is a point that lies on the diagonal on the top face 1 quarter of the way across (sqrt(2)/4 from b).
Distance from A to B is sqrt(8) = 2.828
Distance from A to Point on diagonal is sqrt(130)/4 = 2.850

I figure you could solve this by flattening the shape, labeling the edges, and then finding the most distant point assuming you can only cross 2 edges at a time. Whichever one of those has the longest distance is the winner.

There are 4 ways to get to A from B, all of them the max length.
