What did nature mean by this?
I find it somewhat implausible that a chemical with its subjective properties should exist. The human brain, a pile of technical debt crafted over eons by natural selection and fine-tuned for foraging and politics. Its wielders accidentally build themselves a society where the former of these talents is useless, the wilderness is defeated and they compete with each other by sitting at desks and thinking. We ought to find the Information Age incredibly hostile to our monkey brains, and by many metrics we do. But add just one simple little molecule, and the spaghetti code brain is suddenly a natural inhabitant of the world of abstractions, manipulating symbols it can't even touch for hours on end.
Is reality a hoax? Are we being pranked by God, seeing how wild a tale he can spin while hiding behind a facade of simple physical causes before we figure out the joke?
