>>11575010Our base animal needs rule us like any other animal but we are able to act past them if we wish. I'd get into psychology or neurology if you want to get more into how humans act and reason beyond the average animal. But also animal intelligence studies show that many animals think past sex as well.
>>11575019Nah that doesn't help so much. The causes and effects of alcoholism and child abuse are a bit more complicated than ape nature.
There's the other side of nature that is nurture. And this goes true for animals as well as humans. The way you are nurtured as a child and shown love early in life has a huge impact on how you grow to love and your sexual interests as an adult. We learn based on experience and so our experiences shape us on top of the animal id part of you.
And you gotta be careful because human sexuality is more closely related to bonobos than great apes and those are generally ran matriarchal. Go far down the rabbit hole of applying everything they do to human society and you either end up an incel or some wild extreme feminist.
We're very similar to our monkey cousins but we aren't exactly like them. There's things we can learn about ourselves from observing them but that doesn't mean everything they do applies to us.
Frankly I love reading the wild sexual shit bonobos get up to. But it'll make a solid case to argue that we should all be bisexual free loving hippies if you try applying it too strictly to human sexuality.
