Isn't all of physics this? Like newton's laws and whatnot relate only 3 quantities but explain pretty much all motion in the universe? Can someone explain to me how this isn't a meme?

First of all, you can not describe 3D space with edges since edges are one dimensional. Secondly, why say "space-like hypersurfaces"? Just say space. You don't need to come up with brand-new vocabulary for every theory.
