Why can I do really advanced math but struggle with basic physics problems? I mean like I can compute homology groups and do SPPDEs alright but basic electric flux problems for undergrads still trip me up often. I know I'm not retarded but like is this common or something for math people?

More common than you think. Often you'll see people who immersed themselves too much into pure math struggling with understanding physics, as you need a strong physical intuition to solve physics problems without struggling. If you're studying hydraulics, for example, no amount of mathematical ability or massive reading will help you out if you can't mentally visualise the water or the oil going through the pipes.
Just do a lot of physics and you'll get good over time.

I've heard that from a few math students.
But they never really explained to me what their problems were.
And neither did you, so good job.
You could just read feynman lectures, they give a good insight how physicists think.
