The average American university, on the other hand, is quite mediocre. And so are most American undergraduate programs, even at some of their finest schools.
Grad schools are where America really shines, for a multitude of reasons, including funding, exceptional structure and their unmatched ability to attract some of the smartest people in the planet (specially from developing countries).
But if you unironically believe that "universities in America are so much better than anywhere else", you really should learn more about higher education worldwide.
