You see, you have left a noose tied to the ceiling of the cell, and they need atleast and index and a thumb to tighten that noose when they release it's more torture and death.
Why give them an out?
Most religions say suicide results in eternal damnation in hell, so you're covering all the bases.
All that needs to be done is to go into biomedical research, since there is some promise of achieving life extension technology soon. You could torture them for decades, if not indefinitely, and the only way out is suicide
