You guys probably have this thread every other day but why are transgender tendencies not considered a mental illness anymore? If I identified as something I am not (oddly enough, except for the opposite gender) and wanted to chop off and/or remodel a part of my body (conveniently, except for my penis) I would be considered mentally ill, probably schizophrenic, self-harming or something of the sort. Why is that not the case with transgender people?
Is it because they earn pharma companies and illegitimate surgeons a lot of money?
