Reading the name of the rose and the herbarium section reminded me of my year long quest to find a decent introductory book on herbs, medicinal, culinary and psychoactive. I have a master in chemistry, so some required chemical literacy is fine. The problem is that either these books are written for new age mom's, drug addicts who want to claim weed cures leukomia or Indian or Chinese nationalists proposing their bronze age system was right all along. Either way its always full of lies. The alternative of biology books on herbs is also useless as they spend 90% of the time going on about wether their ancestors had 2 or 4 seeds instead of highlighting interesting compounds/potential or historical uses.
