Hi all. I used anecdotal evidence and reasoning to solve my strange armpit odor that was causing me a rash:
1. Armpits started to discolor
2. I gained weight.
3. I started sweating more. Routinely. I would immediately start sweating when i woke and it would itch and then it would calm down - like as if the yeast/bacteria that is there is feeding on me and releasing chemicals to cause me to sweat so they can eat the protein in my sweat.
4. Odor started emanating, it was repugnant - not humanely, it smelled like an infection rather than one of my normal body odors.
5. I actually stopped using antiperspirant when all these symptoms started showing up.
6. Went to doctor and they said it was because I was sweating excessively and friction between my arms and trunk of body was causing this breakdown of skin.
7. Doubt.
8. I remembered from microbio that germs and yeast like to live in controlled environments. Any change in this will outright kill them.
9. The convenience that the infection is topical made my treatment choice easy - literally lemon juice.
10. Squirt lemon juice from a fresh lime into my hand and rub onto pit. I actually feel relief from the itching a few minutes in. I don't shower and go to bed. The next morning the itching isnt present when i wake up and the smell has calmed down it wasnt as potent.
11. Keep trying treatment. Sweating is reduced i dont drench shirts anymore. The smell is gone. The discoloration and "scars" on my armpits are starting to lighten up again.
12. Still don't use deodorant - i dont think i need to anymore, lime is my deodorant.
13. before the lemon treatment i tried hibbiclens aniseptic and clotrimazole antifungal/antiyeast. with minimal results. the infection always came back. in fact this whole thing started because i decided to use hibbiclens on my armpits for fun one day and it messed up my flora
Conclusion: sometimes those lavendar oils and mixing lemon and honey remedies on facebook work.
