Why is it such a common scifi trope to have advanced civilizations refusing to give more primitive people technology for fear they would destroy themselves with it? There are many instances in the history of Earth where advanced weapon technology was traded to less advanced cultures and it really only happened once during the bronze age collapse (allegedly).
