Ultimately your body craves things that it needs to build itself and get stronger. That's why pregnant women have all sorts of cravings - because their body needs the right materials to build the baby inside of them.
So, you're wrong. You can put your meme "heme iron" into something else but it won't make people crave that thing as much as they do a hamburger, because there's more to it than iron. Protein like I said, and other stuff too, like Vitamin B12, which humans absolutely require, and is naturally only found in meat / eggs / dairy.
