What do those sin and cos inputs mean and where do they come from?

What is Esin(wt)? Some formula for voltage? Also, in the Asin(wt-y) part what's with the -y? What is that? Phase shift? Wut?

why sines and cosines? because these (or complex exponentials, same thing) are solutions to linear time invariant systems, which describes RLC systems (among other things). Moreover, you get two solutions because you have a second order diff eq, and thus need two linearly independent solutions to solve it. there are some other details, but google some of those words and you'll get better explainations than I'm willing to provide on a mongoloid cartoon forum

that's just the mathematical description of a wave, in this case alternating voltage/current. for current, "wave" means like soundwave where electrons are pushing eachother which creates low density and high density areas, that is, a wave. for voltage, "wave" is a little more abstract, meaning the "potential to push charges" between the two sides of the voltage source. you can see though that the two are directly related. for AC, BOTH current and voltage oscillate but not in phase with each other due to the effects of capacitors/inductors, which resist changes in either voltage or current, which is why he has Ip(t) with a different phase than V(t).
