Bdelloid Rotifer

Bdelloid Rotifers can withstand extreme conditions such as being desiccated or frozen for years and then 'resurrect'. During this process, the genome naturally gets damaged and to repair it, the Bdelloid Rotifer takes in foreign DNA. Traces of DNA from bacteria, funghi, plants, etc. have been found in Bdelloi Rotifers, and this got me thinking. What if, say, a human were to completely dry up the environment around a Bdelloid Rotifer and then, after a while, put them in a controlled environment filled with luciferase genes so that the Rotifer then uses these to repair itself? Can this process be used to "inject" DNA into these Rotifers and manipulate them in a sense? Thanks in advance, anons :)
