Big time. Did very well in high school but fell for the depression meme and ended up a life drop out.
I listen to plenty of audiobooks and try to stay informed but I essentially already live the sort of powerless house pet life everyone fears AI will encur.
I look and seem intelligent and can fake it in fairly intelligent company but I am actually only able to understand and learn a description of something and especially the history of a subject. Concepts or calculations are beyond me.

Work harder. Put in more hours to review the material/textbook to understand it. Sleep and eat consistently. If you really think you're using every brain cell and every available hour of your day and still can't pass (which I highly doubt it), then that's likely your physical limit. I think succeeding in undergrad engineering is feasible for any average person, just that they need to put in more time and hard work compared to someone who is "smarter".

I'm pretty sure you already know engineering degrees tend to be incredibly laborious, more so than other degrees. Are you enjoying the material, when you do understand it?
