How can I reason with my illogical mind?
I have recurring thoughts that whatever I perceive has an influence on my destiny.
For example, if I'm reading a book, I end up finding all these coincidences, and then synchronicities start happening making it seem like if the book were prophecies dictating my life or better said, as if my doing something would cause events to happen either in my life or in the whole world (as when I thought that maybe I caused the coronavirus because I was playing a game about a virus ("One Chance") just a few weeks before it all began). The problem with these thoughts is that sometimes I end up acting on them and I just end up embarrassing myself. For instance, I thought someone was talking to me through a secret code, once from a subtle change in their profile, and another time from a post they made.
I frequently have these ideas and delusions of reference and I'm not sure what I can do about them, I can see that they're illogical to some extent but that's not enough to get rid of them. I thought recently, that perhaps using some rationality à la lesswrong could help me think with greater clarity. Perhaps thinking on things like Occam's Razor or something like that.
What do you science anons know about this?
What can I do to deal with these delusions?
