>>11535261It would be nice if, at the end of the simulation that we're currently in, we are allowed to wake up like Neo and experience reality on a higher plane of existence. But our consciousness, if it doesn't simply vanish, could be whisked off into a successive reincarnation without us ever having a chance to ponder the wider picture. After all, if the next plane up really sucks, it might be possible that we willingly submerged ourselves into an eternity of virtual reality. Maybe we even instructed our obedient machines to keep us going on this endless loop.
This reminds me of an old episode of Star Trek about an advanced and successful civilisation whose nearby star was about to go supernova. Having the power of time travel, all the living inhabitants decided to spend the remaining years of their lives enjoying their society's glorious past. So each one of them would travel to the time of their choice within their planet's history.
