Black holes are created when a star much bigger than the Sun implode into its own core basically turning it inside out, then exploding with a huge burst of gravity. They bend time and space and have a core infinitely smaller than an atom called a singularity. The outer part of a black hole is the event horizon this is the area where once you're in it, there's no escape because not even light can escape so why could you?
